ASIC mining machines consist of specialized hardware, made up of chips that are used exclusively for mining cryptocurrency. ASICs are designed specifically for mining cryptocurrency, unlike GPUs which are used by gamers and miners. GPU mining is not profitable for Proof-of Work assets such as Bitcoin because of this specialized equipment.

ASIC mining equipment tends to be more expensive, noisier and require more power than GPU equipment. It is often more energy efficient and requires less maintenance. ASICs are more difficult to use than GPUs and may require home miners to make adjustments before connecting.
