Hello!! Just popping in to share this platform that helped me advance from B1 to C2 in English, and best of all, it's FREE. And just to add I DONT GET pay from Episoden to tell this.

The platform is called Episoden. It's a website where English students can gather to improve their speaking and listening skills. Episoden brings together English students from around the world for small 1:1 meetings, giving them the opportunity to discuss any topic of their choice. Now, I'll explain how it works, mention some pros and cons, and highlight the feature that attracts me the most to this platform.

How it works
So, if you like the idea but want to understand a bit more about what your experience will be like when you join, let me explain how it works:

1 - Interview

After registering on the site and creating your account, you will go through an interview with a teacher who will assess your ability to maintain a basic conversation about simple topics. If you have the minimum ability to answer questions like, for example, "Why do you want to learn English?" or "Can you talk a little about yourself?", you will be eligible to use the platform.

2 - Ticket System
This is the home page:

So, basically, what will catch your attention is that the platform gives you 5 tickets called "white tickets," which you can use to enter the rooms. The platform provides more tickets based on your usage.

But what is really interesting about the platform are the "purple ones," which are granted to you for good behavior and the evaluation your partner gives at the end of each meeting.

3 - Meetings
Here, we have an example of one of my meetings with a super cool Turkish guy.

The meetings always have a theme suggested by the platform, as you can see, but you can choose whether or not to follow it. They are 1:1 conversations and last for 7 minutes. After each meeting, you are asked what you thought of your partner's English and whether you would like to have a meeting with this person again. After that, you can continue using your tickets or simply leave the platform.

Pros and Cons :
I have been using this tool for about four months now, and I can say that my English has improved a lot. I have moved beyond just understanding English without an accent, typical of American movies, and have gotten used to various accents. I can watch C# lessons provided by Indians on YouTube without any difficulty because I got used to having contact with different accents. Now, I am using English as it should be used: a language to communicate not only with natives but as a means to facilitate communication with anyone in the world. If they know English, I will be able to communicate without difficulties. That said, let's go to the pros and cons:

Pros:

  • Quick and dynamic meetings.
  • People with good conduct are rewarded. Completely free.
  • If you have basic manners, you can easily spend two hours every day practicing English.
  • Helps you get used to different accents.

Cons:

  • You need to pass an interview to join.
  • Meetings could be longer.
  • There are no native speakers.

Basically, that's what I have to share with you all. I hope it helps those who don't have money to invest or those who are dissatisfied with paying for mediocre services. Peace and contact me at @Mean_Sayss on X.
