Resources to get started with UX/UI design

Chrissie - Jul 1 '20 - - Dev Community

As a front-end web developer, I'm always working with designs made by UX/UI designers and as time passed I got curious, I wanted to try my hand at UI/UX design but I didn't know where to start.

So a few weeks ago, I posted a tweet asking about resources to get started, and in this post, I'll be listing the responses I got.

Resilient Web Design

This is a web book, which means a book meant to be read on the web but there is an option to download the pdf version if you're more comfortable with that format. It contains ideas and approaches that help you build better websites.

The Design of Everyday Things

This is a great book for anyone who's interested in UI/UX design, while I'd have preferred if the author when into greater detail about certain concepts, it's still a good book with useful examples.

Designcourse

This youtube channel is one of my favorites for anything design related. It has tons of beginner-friendly videos and as an expert UI/UX designer and front-end developer, Gary Simon has valuable insights into the field that he shares on this channel. The author, Gary Simon also has some paid courses for those who want to get more.

AJ & Smart

They're a design studio based in Germany. They have a youtube channel where they upload videos every week about product design, UX/UI design, etc.

Jesse Showalter

Another Youtuber that has great content, he shares videos about tools and techniques to become a successful web developer and designer

CharliMarieTV

Charli Marie is a web and graphic designer with her own youtube channel where she shares about design concepts, tools, projects, and vlogs about her life as a designer.

That's it hope this will help you get started with UI/UX design. If you have any other resources (books, youtube channel, courses, etc.) that may be helpful to anyone starting up their design journey, please share it in the comments.
